Setting Goals And Objectives
The following article is all about setting goals and objectives in your life. There are different types of goals of course. Here are five of the most important.
1. Family
2. Personal
3. Business
4. Spiritual
5. Social
Today we will concentrate on business goals.
A lot of people when starting out in business just jump in and start marketing without setting any goals, having a plan or a daily blueprint to work from. Without these in place they may already be doomed to failure.
Before you start out in your business you should set yourself worthwhile goals, be specific about these goals. Write them down and then create a plan for achieving these goals. Next step would be to implement this plan. Come back to this plan often to review and adjust it as needed.
Apart from writing down what your goals are, write down why you want to achieve these goals and set a date when you hope to achieve these goals. If you do not set an end for your goal how will you know you have reached it? Once you have reached a goal, set a new goal and carry on with that. Make sure you read your goals at least twice a day, first thing in the morning when you wake up and before you go to bed. This will keep them in your mind and help you stay focused on what you are trying to achieve.
Make sure you review and analyse your progress every day. Adjust your goals if you have gone “off course” but always remember the quickest way to your target(your goal) is in a straight line. Do not get distracted and let anything stop you from reaching your goals.
Some helpful hints
1. Create a daily journal
2. Ask yourself if what you are doing is the most productive thing you could be doing.
3. Review your progress and celebrate when goals are reached.
4. Set new goals regularly
5. Don’t stop moving forward
6. Map out your success
7. Create a plan
8. Stay positive and expect success
You can see now why setting goals and objectives are important for you personally and especially in your business. Get started right now, take some time and write down all you want to achieve. Start with short term goals say 1- 3 months, then your yearly goals and maybe a long term goal something like where you would like your business to be in 5 years time.

I have a business that is less than a year old so I foeesre this to be a year of great gains and challenges. My business goals are:To steadily build a monthly revenue that can fully support both myself and my partner. To establish our business as the go to for art marketing advice in our local area.To build our seminars and events to the point of being able to support a two-day marketing workshop. To achieve all this we are creating strategies to build our online presence, networking with local art organizations, holding seminars and events to share our knowledge, and generally making ourselves a visible part of the community. We face the challenge of being able to get our brand and message out to enough of our target market, providing the types of services that are most needed and wanted, and growing the business at a pace that we can sustain but also support our goals. All in all I look forward to the challenges and triumphs in the year ahead.

I couldn’t agree with you more. When I was a stedunt I always had this problem: teachers would, of course, show us how to do things, but they’d rarely take the time to explain why what we were learning was important. They’d make no meaningful connections, like you mention. I got the feeling we were being taught simply for standardized testing (which, in the case of my high school, turned out to be true; the school was in trouble and needed to improve test scores, so everything revolved around teaching to those particular tests). I felt the overall learning experience suffered because of this.I really appreciate what you’re doing with this blog. It’s interesting to see things from a teacher’s perspective, and it seems like you’re great at what you do. I just wish there was a greater focus on education in this country.
it is a very nice educative article. keep it up for your hard work.http://www.casaemail.com.br
My goal for 2011 is to finally take the big pnulge and start an online Japanese fabric (and paper at some point, I hope) shop. I have been dreaming about it for years, but I have let fear and all sorts of worries hinder this project. I feel it’s time to put my passion for Japanese patterns, and fabric and paper in general into action !So for me, 2011 is about starting this business. I’m a little terrified, and very excited too It’s so inspiring to read everyone’s goal(s) ! Thank you all for sharing, and Megan for creating this space.
